Instance Properties - Expression Editor

Text type instance properties can also be driven by a property expression. The expression can include iProperties from the underlying part or assembly document as well as instance properties from the same occurrence. When you specify a property expression for an instance property, the user cannot edit the value of the instance property in the Instance Properties Property Editor. The user can choose which occurrences to apply the expression, or to clear the expression from an occurrence property, but they cannot enter a different value.

Example:

The following image shows a property expression for a text type instance property. The expression references the document iProperty Title, and the text type instance property Text00 that is an instance property defined in the same iPropWiz configuration. When a user applies this property to an occurrence (e.g., MyPart:3), the expression is evaluated by obtaining the Title property value from the MyPart.ipt file, and the value of the Text00 instance property in the MyPart:3 occurrence.

Standard Inventor Document Properties

This lists all text based standard iProperties that can be included in the property expression.

Custom Document Properties

If you have selected a specific document as the source file for custom properties, the text type custom properties from this document are shown here. If no specific document is selected, the User Defined (Custom) properties from the active document are displayed.

Available Instance Properties

All valid text type instance properties from the current iPropWiz configuration are displayed. The list excludes instance properties that would create a circular reference if included in the property expression.

Property Expression

The full property expression is displayed here. As with the Expression Editor for document iProperties, you can drag and drop a property name into the text box to insert it at a specific location, cut and paste property references, and select edit tools from a context menu. The property expression is validated when you click OK.
