Property Grid - Date values

Autodesk Inventor date iProperties are often included in an iPropWiz configuration. For date properties displayed in the iPropWiz Property Editor:

In the iPropWiz Property Editor, a date property is identified with a  glyph in the Data Type column. Note that this column can be hidden. The value cell shows a the date using the current Windows short date format. A check box indicates if the date property is in use.

Note: (New: Oct 2023 - V7.23+) Autodesk Inventor prevents the date value for a property from varying between model states of the document. A change to the date value in one model state updates the property in all of the file's model states.

Working with Date Properties

The following table outlines methods you can use to manage date properties in the iPropWiz Property Editor.

Enter a valid date in the value cell.

You must enter the date value using the mask displayed in the value cell.

For example, on entering the value cell, the date is highlighted and the date is shown in the expected format.

Type in a new date, including the separator characters between the day, month, and year values. Note that the year value can be entered as two characters even if the current format shows the year as four characters.

Navigate to another value cell to update the value of the date property.

Click the calendar drop down in the value cell to show a date selection calendar. Select a date from the calendar to apply the date and close the calendar drop down.

See the Navigating in the Calendar section below for more information.

If you select an incorrect date value, you can quickly restore the previous date from the value cell context menu. Note that you must restore the value before you click the Apply or OK button in the iPropWiz Property Editor.

Date Properties and Multiple Document Selection

If multiple documents are selected for property editing in the iPropWiz Property Editor, the values for a date property may vary. As with other properties, the value for the date property is displayed as *VARIES* ( or the local language equivalent ). If you select a new date for the property, and then decide that you do not want to apply the new value, use the following steps to restore the original values.

Click in the cell with the new date value. The cell must be in edit mode for the context menu to appear.

Right-click the cell. Select Restore value from the context menu.

The cell will display *VARIES*, even if all selected documents originally shared a common value for this property. When you apply the property changes, the original date value will be retained in each of the selected documents.

Note: You must restore the original values before you apply the property changes.
