Property Editor - Model States

Send comments on this topic.

Versions 7.xx.1.207 (where xx is 23 or greater) and later include support for managing property values in each Model State included in a part or assembly file. This functionality is available only if the current iPropWiz configuration has it activated. Depending on other iPropWiz configuration settings, you may be able to disable and enable this functionality. Disabling this functionality returns the Property Editor to working only with the default properties for part and assembly files.

Access to Model State Properties

The Document Tree in the iPropWiz Property Editor includes two additional document display modes as outlined in the following image:

Note: Disabling Model State property management from the toolbar or in the Property Editor Options dialog removes these two buttons from the Property Editor.

Hierarchical list of model state documents

Activating this display mode shows the following in the document tree.

Active document (Not edit in place document)

 Document tree displays

  Assembly

Hierarchical list of all referenced documents in the assembly. Each referenced Model State document is shown separately.

  Part

The active Model State document in the part file.

Similar to the default hierarchical document display you are able to select one or more documents either in the document tree or in Inventor's graphics window. If a non-Master (non-Primary) model state document is included in the selected documents, any updates to property values are written only to the selected Model State document. If the active document is a part file, property updates are written only to the active Model State document in the part file.

List all model states in active document

This document display mode is only available when the active part or assembly document (not edit in place document) has more than one Model State. When activated, the document tree displays a list of all Model States included in the active document. No other referenced documents are displayed in the tree. As with other document display modes you can select one or more Model States in the document and edit the property values associated with those Model States. Since the different Model States are not visible in the graphics window you must select the Model States to edit from the Property Editor document tree. You are not required to activate any particular model state in order to edit property values.

Note: One model state is always selected in this mode. You can use Ctrl + Click on the top level document node to toggle all model state nodes, or the.Primary model state node.

If the Primary model state is the single selected model state, checking another model state makes it the single selected model state.

If a non-Primary model state is the single selected model state, checking other model states adds them the collection of selected model states.

If a non-Primary model state is the single selected model state, unchecking this model state resets the Primary model state as the single selected model state.
