General Questions

iPropWiz is an Autodesk Inventor add-in that provides an easy to use property entry interface. The use of administrator defined iPropWiz configurations lets you to specify which Autodesk Inventor iProperties are shown to a user for each Autodesk Inventor document type. Property entry is made more efficient by the use of lists and other iPropWiz tools. Users can display the iPropWiz Property Editor as they work in Autodesk Inventor where it will update to show the appropriate properties as the user changes documents or selection in Autodesk Inventor.

Yes. iPropWiz 7 supports Autodesk Inventor 2019 and later versions. iPropWiz 6 can be used with earlier versions of Autodesk Inventor.

Yes. Just download the full install for each version and install them both. The correct version of iPropWiz 7 will be loaded when you start the different Autodesk Inventor versions.

Yes. iPropWiz is designed specifically to work in an engineering team environment, but is also easy to setup and use for a single user. An administrator creates one or more iPropWiz configurations that control almost everything about the display and entry of property values. Users then connect with a specific configuration that provides a consistent interface for efficient property entry.

Yes, you can translate your existing configurations and copy them to a new folder when you first run the iPropWiz 7 Configuration Editor. If you skip the option to translate your existing configurations on your first use of iPropWiz 7 you can translate them using the following steps.

  1. Open the iPropWiz Configuration Editor.
  2. From the Tools drop down, click Transfer v2009 / v5 / v6 configurations.

See the Getting Started - iPropWiz Administrator page for more information.

In both the iPropWiz Configuration Editor and Property Editor, the help button in the lower left corner of the form has a dropdown. Click the dropdown button and select About iPropWiz. The About iPropWiz dialog is displayed and contains build and license information.

iPropWiz 7 Licensing Questions

iPropWiz 7 uses a subscription licensing model. You can purchase either local licenses that are tied to an individual computer, or a floating license server that enables users to obtain a license from an accessible server. New and upgraded licenses include the first year of subscription, and your first purchase or upgrade of all current licenses sets your subscription start date. Additional licenses are easy to add and are discounted to reflect the time remaining in the subscription period. Full pricing and purchase information is available at the iPropWiz 7 product page.

Although it makes activation much easier if you have an Internet connection, you can activate a local iPropWiz license without an Internet connection. See the LICENSING page for more information on activating a local license. When activating a floating license server license, the server must be given access to our licensing service web site. Please contact use for more information if needed.

Yes. You can purchase an upgrade to a floating license server. If you chose to upgrade only some of your existing local licenses, the remaining license are retained as local licenses.

You can use either of the following methods.

  • Deactivate the local license from the iPropWiz Configuration Editor. See the Configuration Editor - Tools page for more information. This method deactivates a local license but does not remove the iPropWiz add-in from the computer.
  • Uninstall the C-Cubed iPropWiz 7 application from Windows Settings > Apps & Features. You can optionally use Control Panel > Programs and Features to uninstall the add-in. The license is deactivated before the add-in is removed.

You can use either of the following methods. Both methods remove the information about the license server so you must identify the new floating license server or activate a local license the next time you start Autodesk Inventor.

  • Deactivate the license from the iPropWiz Configuration Editor. See the Configuration Editor - Tools page for more information.
  • Delete the following file. C:\Users\user name\AppData\Local\C-Cubed\iPropWiz 7\iPropWiz 7.config.

iPropWiz 7 Property Editor

It is likely that the iPropWiz settings file has been corrupted. To fix this:

  1. Close Autodesk Inventor.
  2. Browse to C:\Users\user name\AppData\Local\C-Cubed\iPropWiz X\ ( where X is your version of iPropWiz ).
  3. Delete the iPropWiz X.config file ( where X is your version of iPropWiz ).
  4. The iPropWiz Property Editor will be displayed at a default location the next time you start Autodesk Inventor.

It is likely that the positioning of the property editor has been corrupted and it is located off your screen.

Yes, you can narrow the property editor by dragging the right edge of the window. To further reduce the width, you can:

  • Close the Selection group. You can still select components in the Autodesk Inventor graphics window or browser to edit properties of the selected documents. To close the selection pane, click the arrow in the group title bar, or double click the group title bar.
  • On the iPropWiz Property Editor toolbar, click the Options command . In the Options dialog, uncheck the columns you do not need to see. The property editor is modified when you close the Options dialog.
  • See the Property Editor - Options page for more information.

Autodesk Inventor dockable panels make it difficult to support efficient keyboard navigation in an embedded grid, a key feature of iPropWiz. In addition, an add-in contained in a dockable panel competes with Autodesk Inventor for some keyboard key combinations. For these reasons, iPropWiz 7 reverts to a modeless ( can be open while you work in Autodesk Inventor ) form for the property editor. You can optionally dock the PE to the left or right edge of the Autodesk Inventor window. See the Property Editor - Options page for more information.

Yes. This is a configuration specific setting that you can either change in the current configuration, or override the current setting in the iPropWiz Property Editor.
