iPropWiz Overview

iPropWiz 7 is the latest version of the highly popular iPropWiz add-in. It is a tool that simplifies the process of entering and managing Autodesk Inventor property values (aka iProperties). iPropWiz is built for engineering teams but also provides productivity enhancements for single users. iPropWiz does not add or store any additional information in your Autodesk Inventor documents. It simply makes assigning values to Autodesk Inventor iProperties much more efficient. iPropWiz does not interfere with any Autodesk Vault functionality. If you are using Autodesk Vault, all property value changes managed by iPropWiz are applied to documents that have been checked out from a vault. If iPropWiz is not available for any reason you can still edit iProperty values using the Autodesk Inventor iProperties dialog. For some of the more advanced features of iPropWiz, updates to some property values will require that iPropWiz be installed on the machine.

The iPropWiz add-in has two main components:

A configuration editor. As an iPropWiz administrator, you use the tools in the iPropWiz Configuration Editor ( CE ) to build one or more iPropWiz configurations. Each configuration contains a defined set of iProperties for each Autodesk Inventor document type: part, sheet metal part, assembly, weldment, drawing, and presentation. The CE enables you to create lists, property expressions, and other helpful property management tools. You can optionally assign these tools to properties included in the configuration.

A property editor. After the creation of at least one iPropWiz configuration, your users easily access the configuration and enter property values for the included properties using the iPropWiz Property Editor ( PE ). The PE can remain open as you work in Autodesk Inventor and as you change selections or documents in Autodesk Inventor, the properties shown in the PE are refreshed from the documents associated with the current selection. Simple keyboard navigation, property information feedback, and the use of lists assigned to specific properties reduces both the time spent and number of error when entering property values. Spell checking of property values, and other included productivity tools can be incorporated into your use of iPropWiz.
